GORDON, John H. We regret to announce the passing of John (Jack) Holden Gordon at Vernon Jubilee Hospital in Vernon on 5 June 2013 at age 91 years. Jack now joins his wife of over 60 years, Doreen, who passed away in 2009. Jack is survived by his daughter Linda and son Donald (Bonnie), both of Calgary. Three grandchildren, Scott, Heather and Kimberley. He has two brothers, Stuart in Montreal and Jim in Regina. Sister-in law Bea Thompson of Kelowna and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Jack was born in Limerick, Saskatchewan and he led a very full and rewarding life. Jack was overseas during the war and then returned to university in Saskatoon to earn his degree, allowing him to attain a Chartered Accounting certification. Jack married Doreen in Regina in 1949 and shortly thereafter moved to Victoria, BC where Donald was born. He then moved to Vancouver where Linda was born and in 1964 the family moved to Vernon, BC where Jack ran the practice until his retirement in 1984. Jack was heavily involved in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC, served as president of the Vernon & District Chamber of Commerce, served as treasurer of the North Okanagan Community Concerts, treasurer of Trinity United Church, and was a director of the B.C. Interior Region of the Boy Scouts for many years. He was also very active in Masonic Lodge affairs as well as in the Lawn Bowling and Curling associations plus numerous other community organizations. In spite of all these commitments he managed to find the time and energy to participate in the activities he most enjoyed: RVing, sailing, curling, lawn bowling and singing in community choirs. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held at Trinity United Church in Vernon, B.C. on 22 June 2013 at 2 pm. It is requested that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to Prostate Cancer Canada, 2 Lombard St, 3rd Floor, Toronto, ON M5C 1M1. Arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home (250-542-0155). Condolences may be sent to www.vernonfuneral.com
